Start The Year Off Right.
Get your computer off to a good start.
1st Security:
Update all Security Protection
Antivirus
Anti adware
Anti spyware
Firewalls
Scan computer with each security protection to be sure it is free of any problems.
Clean up “My Documents”
Delete all unnecessary files and folders. Then organize well.
Create folders for files that have a common subject or theme and put them into the folder.
i.e. Finance, (sub folders), investment, banking, taxes, etc
Organize your photos. Put in folders, name them etc. Back up your photos onto a disc and then you can delete them from the hard drive.
Select multiple files,
In a row shift
Not in a row control
Outlook Express or Outlook.
Inbox should only contain pertinent working emails, ones that you will reply or forward
Delete all unnecessary emails
Create folders for emails to keep and drag them into the respective folders.
Empty the deleted items folder.
Eliminate old email addresses and add any new ones.
Internet Explorer:
Organize your favourites. Click on organize in the favourites window.
Make folders and put the web site pertaining to that folder’s name into them.
You’ll be amazed how more efficient Favourites will be.
Delete: All temporary internet files. Cookies (there are exceptions) and temp files.
Run a disc check for errors.
Right click on your hard drive in My Computer > properties>tools tab>error checking>check now>put a checks next “to automatically fix file system errors” and “attempt recovery of bad sectors” a window will appear saying next time you start up the computer it will perform the check and click on yes.
When disc check has been completed,
Then defrag the hard drive.
