Prepare Now For Christmas

  1. Shopping on line.

Christmas online shopping has many advantages over the holiday mall scene. No long lines. No sore feet. No staggering to the car, weighed down by parcels and shopping bags. Shopping becomes a pleasure, conducted from a favorite chair. Phone in your selections (or place them from your computer terminal), sit back, and wait for the UPS man. Ahhhhh

    But do it now!!

Let the Computer be your private elf.

Get ahead of the rush. Shop now online leaving enough time for shipping.

Presents will be on their way, e-cards selected and date of sending decided.

    Recipes chosen

This way you can relax on the last days leading up to Christmas.

    And all done online.

    When Shopping Know your seller.

Amazon.co.uk:  (free shipping to Spain with purchases over 30 euros), Amazon does not take Pay pal, if shipping to a post box include you telephone contact number as they may ship by courier. Couriers do not deliver to post boxes.  If only a post box address the courier will call you and then you can give them your home address.

Ebay: many small shops have ebay accounts because they can’t afford a website and also they get the benefits of the ebay site. You get the protection of ebay.  Ebay takes Paypal

John Lewis: Shipping cost to Spain £7.50, 4-6 days  Don’t  deliver website orders to BFPO addresses, but the Export department at John Lewis Oxford Street may be able to help –

Not everything they sell online is eligible for international delivery, for reasons connected with logistics, legalities and warranties. These products include electricals, large bulky items, perishables, liquids and flammables

Savvy catalog shoppers know that shipping and handling charges are the bane of catalog shopping. These fees can add as much as 25% to the cost of the merchandise! Piecemeal orders require multiple trips to the post office to collect packages. Best strategy: order as many gifts as possible in a single order.

    All major stores have websites.

    Payment.

paypal  - 500 euros back up if anything goes wrong, arbitration service to resolve problems

Don’t use debit cards, Use credit cards (no recourse when using debit cards)  if there are unauthorized charges, issuer will pay amount above 50 euros.

Cyber Tarjeta: Your bank will offer a cyber account with its own account number. Put the amount you want in it and use this account when buying  online.

    Online banking

Keep checking your credit card balance when you are buying online.

You can make your online bank account just for checking your balance and movement on account, not for transfer of monies. Much safer, but of course you might need the transfer facility.

When shopping on line do install:

Key Scrambler and WOT (web of trust)
    Google them, then install.

Keyloggers, try to record key strokes,
Keyscambler scrambles the keys as you are typing so the keyloggers can’t copy them.

Key Scrambler operates as a layer between your keyboard and your web browser.  A keylogger then would only get the mixed gibberish instead of your personal information.
Key Scrambler (free version) is available as a plug-in for Firefox and Internet Explorer.

WOT (web of trust) an add-on that is a safe surfing tool for your browser. It will scan a website to make sure it is safe before you visit it.
The WOT add-on shows you which websites you can trust for safe surfing, shopping and searching on the web. WOT is easy-to-use, fast and completely free.   WOT’s traffic-light style rating system is easy to understand. Green means safe, yellow means caution and red means stop.

    They are easy, and free.
